How the halving works
Every 210,000 blocks (about four years) the miners' reward for a new block halves: 50 → 25 → 12.5 → 6.25 → 3.125 BTC. The schedule counts blocks, not days, so the date is only an estimate: remaining blocks times the current average block interval.
FAQ
- When is the next halving?
- At block 1,050,000. The exact date depends on how fast blocks are found; the estimate above uses the current pace.
- What changes at the halving?
- The block reward drops from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC.
- Does the halving raise the price?
- There is no guarantee. The halving only changes how fast new coins are issued. Not investment advice.
