What it does
BTCPay Server is a self-hosted, open-source payment processor for accepting bitcoin with no third party and no processing fees.
Background
Wikipedia describes BTCPay Server as a free, open-source, self-hosted Bitcoin payment processor created in 2017 by Nicolas Dorier [Wikipedia]. Merchants receive payments directly into their own wallets rather than through a central processor, and both on-chain and Lightning Network payments are supported. It was developed as an alternative to BitPay during the SegWit2x dispute. The project's own site says BTCPay Server is an open-source project, not a company, and relies on a network of contributors and users for support [btcpayserver.org].
