HODL
In plain words
During a crash, a BitcoinTalk user admitted he was a bad trader, a little drunk, and simply holding. He misspelled “holding” in the title.
Origin story
During a crash, a BitcoinTalk user admitted he was a bad trader, a little drunk, and simply holding. He misspelled “holding” in the title. The typo became the word for not selling, later back-filled as “Hold On for Dear Life”, which is not where it came from.
