From hotels to bitcoin
Led by CEO Simon Gerovich, a former Goldman Sachs trader, Metaplanet switched to a bitcoin treasury in April 2024. On 6 June 2025 it published its 2025–2027 plan to hold 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027, with an interim goal of 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
Its headline metric is BTC Yield, the percentage change in bitcoin per fully diluted share. Since October 2026 the company caps bitcoin-backed borrowing for purchases at about 10% of its bitcoin's value.
