Ralph Merkle

Ralph Merkle: Cryptographer; Merkle trees, cited in the whitepaper. His 1980 paper “Protocols for public key cryptosystems” is reference [7] of the whitepaper. Bitcoin blocks hash their transactions in a Merkle tree, so only the root goes into the block header.
